COOKING WITH BEER: 5 RECIPES FOR SUNDAY’S BIG GAME

Watching any sporting event with friends is always an excuse to enjoy beer and deliciously greasy food. When it comes to the NFL Championship, the beer and food served is almost as important as the game itself. Although we don’t recommend adding food into your beer, we definitely don’t object to beer being added into food. Here are a few of our favorite beer-tastic recipes you and your friends will enjoy while watching Ball So Hard University and the Niners battle on the gridiron this Sunday.

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili
Cook this up the night before and it’ll really let the flavors meld together for one amazing bowl of chili.

Coconut Shrimp
NOLA’s known for their seafood scene and this coconut shrimp recipe will have your mouth feeling like Mardi Gras.

Mini Beer-and-Sausage Corn Dogs
Seriously, who doesn’t love mini corn dogs?

Beer-Battered Cajun Fries
With the big game taking place in the Big Easy, these beer-battered Cajun fries are the perfect snack.

Beer Margaritas
Want to mix up the drink choices at your party? Try serving up a few of these beer margaritas.

SINGHA BRINGS YOU INTO THE ULTRA-SECRET PAX CABIN AT SUNDANCE

We were the official beer for the ultra-secret, tucked away PAX Cabin Off Main for the Sundance Film Festival this year. A small fleet of Black Lincoln Navigators marked with a white PAX ‘X’ stealthily swooped up the RSVP-only entertainment industry professionals and celebrity guests and whisked them to the intimate cabin where plenty of Singha awaited them. Top Chef winner Ilan Hall also prepared dishes off his highly acclaimed menu from his LA restaurant, The Gorbals.

The PAX loose-leaf tobacco vaporizer was gifted to select attendees and quickly became THE coveted gift at Sundance. Singha accompanied celebrities such as Alia Shawkat, Michael Cera, Mekhi Phifer, stars of Sundance films, stars of ‘Suits’, MTV’s ‘Buried Life’, ‘Pretty Little Liars’ and ‘Glee’ as they played Words with Friends and Draw Something by the fireplace and in the game-room of the Pax Cabin.

HAVE AN ICE COLD SINGHA IN 5 MINUTES FLAT!

A while ago we presented a method of cooling down your beer when you’re out in the wild with just a tissue and some water. But what if you just got home with a 6-pack of Singha and time is of the essence (we know the cruelty of having to watch the beginning of a game without a beer in hand) to get your beer temperature down to a refreshing temperature? Like the old adage goes, “Needs more salt.” If you have ice, water, a cooler (a large pot or bucket will work just fine) then you’re all set to have an ice cold beer in less than 5 minutes.

5 easy steps to ice cold Singha:
1. Take your bottles of Singha and place them in your cooler
2. Fill with ice so that the bottles are buried up to the neck
3. Add a generous amount of salt
4. Now fill with water
5. Wait 3-5 minutes an enjoy an ice cold beer

Why it works
Sure, you can use just ice, but ice is bulky with lots of edges that doesn’t leave for many points of contact with the bottles. Adding water takes care of the contact issue but it’s the salt that really makes the mercury drop. Salt lowers the freezing temperature of which results in a really, really cold water surrounding your beloved Singha.

A FEW REASONS TO DRINK SINGHA IN 2013

It’s 2013 and you’ve probably made some resolutions. Losing some weight, reading more books, getting outdoors more often, maybe taking up a new hobby you’ve been thinking about for a while. Perhaps you should consider drinking more Singha as a resolution (Sure, you can make a New Years resolution after New Years. One month rule, right?). Now, before you go crazy with consuming delicious Singha, let me stress moderation as no one enjoys a hangover. Here are six reasons why, when drinking in moderation, beer can be good for you.

Antioxidants

Red wine has been touted as being beneficial for centuries and, recently, science has backed up that claim. But did you know that beer contains just as many healthy antioxidants as red wine and as much as five times as much as white wine. A research paper by Dr. William Ghali of the University of Calgary claimed that drinking 2-3 glasses of beer a day can decrease the risk of heart disease by up to 60%.

Flavonoids Against Cancer
We use three types of hops when brewing Singha. Hops are full of good flavonoids, including one called xanthohumol, which promoates the self-destruction of cancer cells in the breast, ovaries and prostate.

Watch Your Cholesterol
Dr. R. Curtis Ellison, professor of medicine and public health at the Boston University School of Medicine, has done research which shows that alcohol in moderation raises high-density lipoprotein, otherwise known as HDL, which is good cholesterol.

Get Your Fiber
Thanks to the fiber found in the cell walls of malted barley, a liter of beer can have as much as 60% of your daily recommended fiber intake. Sounds like a new saying, “A liter a day keeps the passages cleared away.”

It’s a Hit With the Ladies

A Nurses Healthy study of over 70,000 women between the ages of 25 to 42 were tracked for a link between alcohol and high blood pressure. The study showed that the women who drank moderate amounts of beer had lower blood preeures than those who drank either wine or spirits.

So the next time you find yourself brewing over the decision to enjoy yourself a tall glass of Singha, remember, it might just be best thing you do for your body all day.

Cheers,
Mr. Singha
