In celebration of the 10th Annual Thai New Year Festival in Thai Town we’re kicking off the weekend with a very special event in Hollywood. On Friday, April 5th, we’re bringing together two of the best Thai chefs in America for a night of Northern Thai cuisine at Night+Market. Andy Ricker of Pok Pok in Portland and New York and Kris Yenbamroong of Night+Market will present a 10-course dinner featuring dishes they’ve experienced and created through their travels to the Land of a Thousand Smiles for this Songkran Dinner.
Andy Ricker spent over 20 years traveling throughout Southeast Asia and opened Pok Pok in Portland, OR in 2005. Since opening Pok Pok Ricker’s has won a James Beard Award in 2011 and opened another Pok Pok location in Brooklyn, NY, which was featured on “No Reservations.” He has also been profiled by the New York Times and Pok Pok was recently named on of “The 20 Most Important Restaurants In America” by Bon Appétit.
Kris Yenbamroong opened up Night+Market in 2010 in the annex of his parents Thai restaurant in West Hollywood. Night+Market features dishes from Northern Thailand. It quickly gained a spot on LA Weekly’s 99 Essential Restaurants by Pulitzer Prize winner Jonathan Gold. Kris has been twice nominated for the James Beard Foundation Rising Star Chef semi-finalist and was named “Chef of the Year” by Los Angeles Magazine in 2012.
Although the dinner is to reward the hard work of event organizers and feature a few members of the press, there will be seats available to the public that will be of no cost. If you want to get a taste of some of the best Thai food this side of the Pacific, email Kris at Night+Market at info@nightmarketla.com.
