For many, traveling the world is a dream. For others, casually dreaming about it is not enough. Our latest #SinghaStories features Andrew Kahn, a man in the “others” category, who knew he wanted to make his wanderlust dreams a reality. We caught up with him to find out where he’s been, what he’s doing, and where he’s going next.
33-year-old Andrew is currently living in Las Vegas, Nevada, and works a full-time job managing two Las Vegas nightlife websites, www.jackcolton.com, and www.compguestlist.com.
Andrew’s first experience with Singha was during his first trip to the country of Thailand, where we also discovered his story.
Since his travels to Asia, Andrew says he has developed a fondness for drinking Singha. “Since I’ve always been in the nightlife scene I like to go out and drink,” says Andrew. “While traveling, I love to try different alcoholic beverages that they don’t serve in clubs in the States. Singha is actually my favorite beer to drink when I travel to Asia. There’s something about the taste that draws me back.”
Andrew has always appreciated meeting new people, learning about different cultures, experiencing new foods and going outside his boundaries to try new things. Coupled with his passion for photography and video, and a background in film school, Andrew’s social media has become a high-quality compilation of the many countries, cities, and landmarks he’s visited.
But where did it all begin? Andrew says his thirst for travel started at the onset of 2017, as a New Year’s resolution where he decided that he wanted to do something other than his normal routine of working and going out. It doubled as a personal challenge — aiming to see if he would be able to work a full-time job while reaching his goal of traveling to twelve countries in twelve months.
He succeeded.
“Everyone was shocked and I get asked all the time how I did it,” says Andrew. “My best travel memory was my last-minute trip to Peru. My friend and I decided to book the trip only a week before we went, and hiking Machu Picchu was something I’d always wanted to do. It was a big goal and achievement for me.
“Overall, just being able to travel to 12 countries last year was an achievement. I have been to over 25 countries total, but to complete my goal for last year while continuing to work a full-time job was huge.”
Andrew says he will be traveling to Maui, Hawaii at the end of this month, Belize in February, and Tokyo, Japan in May. He says that twelve new countries to visit are planned for 2018.
Despite his love for traveling, Andrew is always looking for the perfect place to settle down abroad. He also hopes to open a bar or restaurant when he does. Hopefully, we can expect to see Singha on the beer list when it does!
