“The beers will flow,” is what Night+Market’s Kris Yenbamroong said of Friday’s Songkran Dinner, a special engagement event celebrating the 10th Annual Thai New Years Festival in Los Angeles’ Thai Town on April 7th.
And indeed they will. The Singha’s will flow freely along with award winning Northern Thai food from two of the best Thai Chefs in the country. Cooking along side Yenbamroong will be James Beard award winner Andy Ricker of Pok Pok PDX/NYC. Together, they will present a 10-course dinner featuring amazing dishes inspired by their travels to Thailand.
Andy Ricker spent over 20 years traveling throughout Southeast Asia and opened Pok Pok in Portland, OR in 2005. Since opening Pok Pok Ricker’s has won a James Beard Award in 2011 and opened another Pok Pok location in Brooklyn, NY, which was featured on “No Reservations.” He has also been profiled by the New York Times and Pok Pok was recently named on of “The 20 Most Important Restaurants In America” by Bon Appétit.
Kris Yenbamroong opened up Night+Market in 2010 in the annex of his parents Thai restaurant in West Hollywood. Night+Market features dishes from Northern Thailand. It quickly gained a spot on LA Weekly’s 99 Essential Restaurants by Pulitzer Prize winner Jonathan Gold. Kris has been twice nominated for the James Beard Foundation Rising Star Chef semi-finalist and was named “Chef of the Year” by Los Angeles Magazine in 2012.
