E3s ULTIMATE HANGOUT WITH HAWKEN, MIX MASTER MIKE AND BLACK BOOK MAGAZINE

E3 is back at the Los Angeles Convention Center and already there’s a buzz (Wii U, anyone?). Hopes are high as to what Microsoft will inevitably delay unveil this year with rumors of an Xbox 360 successor going around along with finally showing off what exactly “Smart Glass” is. As E3 grows, we’ll pretend ’07 and ’08 didn’t happen, so do events happening outside of the Convention Center.

Questions: Do you like Mechs and Mech related stuff? Do you like being the first to hear unreleased Beastie Boys material? Do you enjoy booze and free swag? If you answered “HELL YEAH” to all three of those questions then, boy, do we have the perfect E3 event for you. Head over to the Hawken Haven at the Luxe City Center Hotel where E3s Ultimate Hangout is taking place. There will be daytime and nighttime events for Hawken, the most anticipated game of 2012, where you can demo the game yourself on June 5th. It’s like Virtual On on steroids and blasted with a mutating dose of gamma radiation. On June 5th Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys will have a special performance featuring unreleased material. The Hawken Haven is located within the brand new FigOly Restaurant, be one of the first to check out DTLA’s new dining hotspot. Then on June 6th RSVP for the BlackBook Magazine party also happening at the Hawken Haven. Check the details below. See you there!

THE DTLA PROM TAKES OVER THE HISTORIC ALEXANDRIA

This past Saturday LA Canvas Magazine hosted the DTLA Prom in the 100-year-old Alexandria Hotel ballroom. Drawing inspiration from Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet, this wasn’t your typical prom. Masquerade masks, a few masked luchadores, men in drag and free flowing adult beverages… a prom like this definitely would make the evening news in most states. But for the DTLA crowd, this is just another weekend in the heart of the City of Angels. KCRW DJ’s Valida and Anthony Valadez kept butts shaking and the party going long after the midnight toast.

Cheers,
