THE DTLA PROM TAKES OVER THE HISTORIC ALEXANDRIA

This past Saturday LA Canvas Magazine hosted the DTLA Prom in the 100-year-old Alexandria Hotel ballroom. Drawing inspiration from Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet, this wasn’t your typical prom. Masquerade masks, a few masked luchadores, men in drag and free flowing adult beverages… a prom like this definitely would make the evening news in most states. But for the DTLA crowd, this is just another weekend in the heart of the City of Angels. KCRW DJ’s Valida and Anthony Valadez kept butts shaking and the party going long after the midnight toast.

CONGRATS TO CHELSEA FC

Credit: Reuters

After 107-years of storied football, Chelsea was able to claim their first elusive Champions League title in dramatic fashion. Didier Drogba lead the charge with a game tying header at the 87:55 mark to make it a 1-1 match. The 34-year-old would go on to finish off Bayern Munich during the shoot-out with the final penalty kick giving Chelsea the 4-3 lead and bringing the Champions League title to Stamford Bridge.

We are proud to be the Official Beer of Chelsea FC. Keep the Blue Flag flying high, boys! Well played and hard earned.

THE BIRTH OF UMAMIcatessen

“Umami is a Japanese word describing the pleasant and savory taste imparted by glutamate, a type of amino acid, and ribonucleotides that occur naturally in foods. Umami as a taste is subtle but it blends with other tastes well to expand your experience while eating.”  ~ Adam Fleischman (owner)

Last week, UMAMIcatessen threw an unforgettable grand opening that involved trays of cured meat, truffle burgers, tres leches, freshly made cocktails, and their official house beer, Singha. The new concept is comprised of a combination of individual kiosks – The original Umami Burger, PIGG, The Cure, and Spring for Coffee. Our recommendation is to stop by with few friends so you can taste a little bit of everything. Enjoy!
